Coffee Bean is a darkly mottled brown glaze with a rich, leather-like appearance when used on its own. However, when paired with one of the Texas Two-Step overcoats, it creates the series' signature oilspot effects.
The Texas Two-Step Oilspots series combines undercoats like Coffee Bean, Licorice, or Brick Red with overcoats to produce beautiful spotted patterns during firing. The thickness of the overcoat affects the size of the spots, allowing for customizable results. Wax resist can also be used to create striking negative space designs between layers.
